Translating the script

Every piece of text FireScript V2 shows lives in one file: firescriptv2/locale.lua. That covers the dispatch alert cards ("Fire dispatch", "to respond", "120 m away"), fire started and stopped messages, the rescue prompts, the whole Fire Control tablet, the scenario creator, chat replies to the admin commands, the command help and the Discord log.

How to translate

  1. Open locale.lua.
  2. Change the text on the right of each =. Leave the names on the left alone.
  3. Restart the resource.

Words between hash signs, like #COUNT#, #NAME# or #KEY#, are filled in by the script. Keep them in your text, but move them wherever your language needs them:

Respond = "#KEY# to respond",
Respond = "#KEY# zum Ausrücken",

Keep the GTA colour codes (~r~, ~s~, ~n~) where they are.

Fire type names

FireTypes gives each type in Config.FireTypes the name players see on the tablet and in the creator. A type you add to the config without a name here shows its config name instead.

Sharing a translation

locale.lua is not escrowed and holds nothing but text, so a finished translation can be handed to other servers as a single file. Keep a copy before you update the script, then compare it against the new locale.lua: an update can add new lines that need translating.

A line you removed by mistake shows on screen as its name, for example Tablet.Respond, so you can see exactly which one is missing.
